CUTS International has been actively working in the arena of CONSUMER SAFETY since long time. As a recognition of our efforts, we were selected as a member of Consumer Protection Council, Consumer Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal. We are also a member of the Central Advisory Committee of Food Safety and Standard Authority (FSSAI), of Shadow Committee of Codex Committee on Fish and Fishery Product and Shadow Committee on Food Hygiene (CIF) of FSSAI.
As a continuation and extension of our efforts we are conducting various Consumer Awareness Programmes on different product Safety, Standards and Certification in West Bengal and a few other North Eastern states.
The aim of such programmes is to educate and aware common consumers about their safety. Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is supporting us by providing financial as well as technical support to organise the programmes.
Within this time CUTS has organised Consumer Awareness Programmes in Tripura, Assam and in West Bengal. Along with organising Awareness Programmes for Common Consumers, we are also doing Educational Awareness Programmes in a few Technical Institutes/ Colleges to educate students about Standards.
